Refresh Theory Introduction

In this lesson, you will learn the Theory of doing a Bead Refresh and the WHY behind the importance for your client’s experience.

Inside this course (while learning the basics), we recommend a Bead Refresh on EVERY Start Beads on One Row, Bottom Row, Main Row, and 3rd Row.

A Bead Refresh is when the track is cut, and a new bead is placed.

It can be done during BOTH a New Installation or a Refresh Appointment.

An additional reason when it is necessary is if your client experiences a bead slip or if there is irritation on the scalp

A Bead Refresh only has 3 problems. Always remember to solve the problems in the following order:

PROBLEM 1: NO BEAD

  • Cut the original track, and remove the bead.
  • Choose the correct section and put a NEW bead on at the correct 45º angle.

PROBLEM 2:  NO TRACK

  • Count back five stitches and do a stitch (this will land in the middle of the 2nd and 3rd bead) to create a new track.
  • Before you tighten the stitch, hold the bead down and gently move the string back and forth to remove any slack.

PROBLEM 3: NO STITCHING

  • Backstitch to the new Start/End Bead.
  • Tie off, glue and finish.
