WEFTS: CLASSIC SINGLE & DOUBLE

Wefts: Classic Single & Double

Now that we’ve covered the primary techniques for weft coloring single wefts, Coach Krystal will show you a technique to use when your clients return for their Refresh (maintenance) Appointment. (You will learn all about this in lesson NBR® 109).

The Classic Single and Double Lowlight is a way to add dimension to the row during the refresh appointment.

For MORE dimension, use these techniques on BOTH sides of the Row.

For LESS dimension, use these techniques on ONE side of the Row.

Single Lowlight

A Single Lowlight is a more traditional lowlight brought through the ends. This will give MORE depth and dimension

Follow these Steps:

  • Use the correct Rooting Technique for your row.

  • Chose an evenly spaced weave pattern to pick up.

  • You do not need to go DEEP (through the entire row).

  • For MAX control of the hair, NEVER work past the length of your tail comb.

  • Make sure you are getting FULL Saturation when creating your lowlights

Double Lowlight

A Double Lowlight is for a more diffused dimension through Zone 2 & 3.

Follow these Steps:

  • Use the correct Rooting Technique for your row.

  • Chose an evenly spaced weave pattern to pick up.

  • You do not need to go DEEP (through the entire row).

  • For MAX control of the hair, NEVER work past the length of your tail comb.

  • Apply Product only through Zone 2 of your lowlights.

  • Pick out a smaller weave from Zone 3 of the previous weave, and saturate.

If your client has a Bold Money Piece, you will isolate the last 1” on each end of the row out to preserve the money piece.
A great trick to ensure that the money piece stays isolated is to section it off with foil prior to lowlighting.

It is NOT recommended that ISLA® hair is highlighted with lightener. If your client needs lighter hair, replace some of the wefts with a lighter weft selection.

The same weft coloring rules apply, so remember:

  • During the color processing time, If you see a line, you’ll get a line. So take the extra time and care to continue blending and melting the color.

  • Always ensure you are getting full saturation otherwise, you will get patchy work.

  • Stay organized and write the time you finished applying and the stylist’s name on the foil!
